Candino Military Style Hand Winding Watch - Wehrmachtswerk Description:Nice vintage Swiss made military style sub-seconds watch by Candino form the late 1960s or 70s. This would be a great watch if you like the Unitas 6498 layout, but find the size a bit large (this watch is 35mm without the crown). The watch features a fully stainless steel case and crown. Has a black dial with luminous hands and markers (numbers use luminous paste as well but no longer glow). The mechanical movement is a later model AS1130 (known as a wehrmachtswerk or army movement) that features a rose / copper finish, Incabloc shock resistance and an adjustable beat error arm. The watch comes with a black one piece nylon mil style band (18mm wide) and a dark brown leather strap with quick release spring bars. Condition:Movement was fully serviced in June 2019 (disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned, oiled with Moebius 9010 and D5, beat error minimized, regulated, no adjustment needed - see last 3 pics). The watch kept time to within less then 30s/day when it was timed after servicing (in 6 positions). The watch of course still keeps good time, but I havent timed it since. The dial on this watch had areas around the outer edge and the holes for the hands where the glossy black paint was peeling off. This paint was touched up with a high gloss oil based paint: rough spots are visible on the dial where the touch-ups were made (see pics), also the white minute marks were repainted. New luminous paint was used in the hands and the hour markers and it glows for several hours on a 1 minute charge form a bright lamp. I cant guarantee the dial paint wont have more flaking problems, but so far it has held up. Case and crystal are in good shape with a few buff-able small scratches and no corrosion. The case may not be original - the movement was slightly loose in the case when I bought the watch and i added a very small aluminum shim outside of the movement ring - it now fits perfectly.
