For sale is a beautiful Mondia by Zenith vintage moonphase chronograph with the eta valjoux hand-wound caliber 7768 based on the incredibly popular 7750. As you may know servicing a moonphase watch is quite an expensive operation especially if it is also a chronograph. With this watch you don’t have to worry about it because I already got it serviced at my own expense. You can buy it worry free! As you can see from the last pic it runs with 297 degrees of amplitude and +3 s/d; the movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled and has obviously no rust. Everything works fine! Every part of the watch is original (except for the strap which is a new alligator strap from vietnam, used only to put the watch inside the watch case) and shows a little wear, but you should consider that this watch is from the 80s, with that in mind we can agree that it has aged really well. Btw check the pictures for the conditions, the only things I want to point out are 2 hairline scratches on the original mineral crystal and a few scratched where there is the indentation in the case where you insert the knife to pop the caseback off. The crown and pushers are original, the dial is the original beautiful laquer one, the hands are original and all line up. The last thing I want to point out is that this watch features quickset date and moonphase, if you don’t operate the crown correctly, meaning that if you don’t put the crown in a neutral position while going from the first to the second position after having set the moon, the moonphase disk will advance. Don’t worry it’s a normal thing with the 7768 caliber and you’ll learn it right away. What else to say, this is a high complication watch and any collector would be happy to own it. Such a lovely piece and conversation starter with an indestructible movement and of course it’s Swiss Made. A watch of this caliber in todays market would be placed around the €2000/2500 mark without the shadow of a doubt.
